THINGS TO DO

There are many beautiful villages and towns in the area - Lauzerte, Montcuq, Cahors and Moissac all deserve a visit, and all have great markets. Canoeing on the Tarn, Lot and Garonne is a great way to spend a few hours or longer, and the lac de Saint-Sernin just outside Montcuq has a sandy beach and nice cafe, with clear water and plenty of space.

The caves of Pech Merle are just over an hour away in Cabrerets and are not to be missed. The are one of the few remaining prehistoric caves still open to the public and tours are given in both French and English.

There are many walks and bike rides straight from the house, through fields of sunflowers and wooded hills.

There are also many great restaurants within a short drive of the house - details and phone numbers are available at the house. A decent supermarket is located 5 minutes drive from the house, as well as a good bakery. There are plenty of roadside stalls selling a variety of local produce, with apricots, peaches, apples, vegetables and honey all available.

The house is a few minutes from the pilgrimage route of the Chemin de Saint Jacques, on the way to Santiago de Compostela and it would be a lovely luxurious stop for anyone doing the French part of the journey.
